a second "grand" title

Post by lkaufman »

I've been a grandmaster for a decade now, but today I acquired a second "grand" title, namely grandfather. My daughter had a daughter.

Congratulations on both accounts.
Taking ideas is not a vice, it is a virtue. We have another word for this. It is called learning.
But sharing ideas is an even greater virtue. We have another word for this. It is called teaching.

Congratulations GM GF Kaufman!

Thanks to all of you for your kind words. One fact doubly relevant here is that their last name is Bauer, the German word for the chess pawn! No known relationship to Ingo Bauer (IPON), but a curious coincidence.

Congratulations, Larry!

The question to ask you ten years from now is which title you will have found the more fulfilling -- the first or the second. :D
