Available Tuesday, Nov 14 (Chessbase.com). Even has emoticons to show Fritz's mood. Very important, of course. :)

I went carefully through the whole Chessbase post, but did not find which engine is used for analyses in Fritz16. I only see in a picture a mention to a "Fritz 14" kibitzing.

Is it stlll the engine that was inside the old Fritz 14 gui?

It does say that "the new multiprocessor engine was developed by star programmer Vas Rajlich ("Rybka") and is up there with the global elite."

Sounds like a continuation of Rybka development to me.

Yes, but it's softly worded and hardly given any space in the article. I fear it may be Fritz 15 + 25 elo or something.

thx. My fault, did not see it.
I wonder if there will be an UCI version or only a Fritz engine.

I agree, this is also a key question for me.

I guess they forget to add "a few years ago ...". I bet for the same Rybka 4.1, maybe slightly tweaked.

The last Chessbase-only proprietary engine was Fritz 14, released in 2013. Fritz 15 (2015) was UCI. It doesn't seem likely that they will attempt to revive the old .engine format, especially as Ftitz 16 promises to be just a new Rybka version.

So many new bells and whistles...

But all they really need is support for WinBoard engines (WB2UCI is annoying and seems buggy to me) and I'll buy immediately.

Something tells me that'll never happen. :(
