The Standard engine in the Pro package has the same thread limit (128) as the Pro engine.

sorry, I worded that wrong. I meant the standard 6.01 version by itself, not the pro version package (which includes both pro and standard)

Hi, is there any point in updating just the standard?

I guess people might want to update because of the 'new output option'

The Standard package is limited to 8 threads, as intended. :-)

The change log is as follows:

• Houdini 6 Pro: A correction made to Nalimov code to prevent multi-threaded crashes.
• A new "Hide Redundant Output" option makes the engine output cleaner by removing some output lines. The option hides information about fail high and fail low situations, and statistics at the end of each search iteration.
• When analyzing positions with the "Analysis Contempt" option checked, the Contempt value will now apply to the White side (instead of to the side that is to move). To use contempt that is optimistic for the Black side you should enter a negative Contempt value.

The engine itself has not been modified, the analysis and strength have remained exactly the same.

You were right!

As soon as I opened my GUI the version 6.01 was there!

Thanks!

Imagine Houdini 6.01 Pro armed with 6-men nalimov on PCIE NVMe.

Houdini then become passive-alternative to lomonosov tablebases.

All 6-men files = 1.11 TB and fits inside Intel 750 Series.

Solicitation for Houdart: consider purchase Intel 750 if interested in endgame analysis.

I certainly wan't that SSD to speed up 6-men nalimov but i can't afford it. It is very expensive.

Hardware today is strong enough to be able to probe 6-men Nalimov on SSD without causing significant speed penalty.

Robert,

I seem to recall you running Houdini on a giant cluster at several tournaments.
Do you have any plans to publicly release a cluster-capable version?

Thanks

Now, why would he do that ?

If he has cluster version of Houdini, it is purely for his own enjoyment :)
