No No Mr Summers, you are wrong.
Ol' Guenther will tell you that it is of " no statistical signficance" :lol:
Or maybe I'm the one who is wrong ...it IS of Statistical Significance if Komodo wins even one game, but not if Shredder wins even 6 games in a row ! :lol:
What a bunch of Hypocrites !
Neither WCSC or WCCC have enough games to reach a strong conclusion that any specific program is definitely stronger than all the rest. Seven or Nine rounds is just not enough. Even TCEC's 100 game superfinal often does not get enough games to know. Rating lists use a lot more, although at longer time controls it is hard to run enough games.
Maybe only play five minute games. For computers that is enough. They are not eighty year old humans. If five or ten minutes is not enough then you may as well play games that are much longer than 100 minutes.

Games from round 3 today. Select via '...' in the pgn window.

In the Komodo game (Black / French), 7...Rb8 is a sideline I wasn't familiar with before, but according to my database Nakamura played it a few times.

Very few games with 8. a3 after this - surely coming from one win of Carlsen.

All the time. In every conversation. You must post. Something. It's like you just can't help yourself.

For an analogy take cycling. When the WC is done a second time one week after then likely it will have another world champion. However when the Tour de France is held for a second time one month after it likely will have the same winner. It all depends what you find more important, becoming world champion or winning the Tour de France.

Re: World Computer Chess Championship 2017: Komodo wins!

Post by IanO » Fri Jul 07, 2017 5:22 pm

Congratulations to Komodo for winning the World Computer Chess Championship!

Code: Select all

          K    J    C    S     Total
Komodo    xxx  ===  ===  1==    5
Jonny     ===  xxx  ==1  ===    5
Chiron    ===  ==0  xxx  ===    4
Shredder  0==  ===  ===  xxx    4
G/45 playoffs were two draws each.

G/20 playoffs: two more Komodo-Jonny draws, but Chiron lost to Shredder, so Shredder attained 3rd place.

G/10 playoffs: Komodo beat Jonny as white in the second game, winning the gold!

Code: Select all

          K    J    C    S     Total
Komodo    xxx  ===  ===  1==    5
Jonny     ===  xxx  ==1  ===    5
Chiron    ===  ==0  xxx  ===    4
Shredder  0==  ===  ===  xxx    4
G/45 playoffs were two draws each.

G/20 playoffs: two more Komodo-Jonny draws, but Chiron lost to Shredder, so Shredder attained 3rd place.

G/10 playoffs: Komodo beat Jonny as white in the second game, winning the gold!
Congrats Larry, Mark, Erdo and anybody else who helped Komodo! :)
