Square off - Great news - great product!

Hello chessfriends! Great news the kickstarter project square off collaborate with Chessbase.com. Every Square Off user will soon be able to challenge over 200,000 registered users from 90 nations playing on the Playchess server - a product of Chessbase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the price is fantasic - looking forward to april!

Nice thanks. Had not heard about this.
While I do not really like the way the thing looks this for sure is what I have been waiting for since I got connected to the internet..
A good reason too to play less blitz and more rapid which I suppose can't be bad.

Though I'm a bit worried if it will actually let me use it as I would like. Going to have to research it a bit before shelling out and if I was smart I should wait for generation 2 or 3 but..

- I dont want to start a PC
- I dont want to look at a monitor

I love the simplicity:
- The Square off has ONE button ON/OFF
- I start my handy - connect to the playchess server and PLAY
- On my handy/iPad I see the watch (no cables ...)
- A board - a watch. Playing a human person. A REAL LIFE situation.

Indeed it's a really nice project.
Though still very early stages and hard to find much specific info about it.
For example how does it deal with non queen underpromotions?
What about the clock?
Does "Membrane sensing technology to detect the location of pieces" mean auto sensory or do we have to press down?
But, I can't resist.. I'm glad someone is finally making this. See you in april!

Hi Stan,

I can answer your questions:

1. Non queen underpromotions: You choose on the APP which piece you want.
2. Clock is on your handy/ipad app
3. No auto sensory - you have to press down.

Great that you cant resist - see you in april!!
