The info just came across the chat wing on TCEC , and I happened to be watching.... Must have been a better way to post his comments .......
Sure hope H5 arrives in time ..... Somebody tell RH to hang up the telescope for a day , and get back to important things ......

I don't think Houdini 5 will be as strong as Stockfish 8, maybe 25 ELO points above Komodo 10.2 but not even close to the latest Stockfish.

I know Houdart has a busy job. Very likely he simply has no time to code and test a dev version for TCEC.

Originally Stockfish 8 release was planned after TCEC final. Good decision for Marco and Joona to hurry up! BTW previously there was one month beta testing - really unnecessary.

Houdini needs some boost against SF. From CEGT testing:
Stockfish 8.0 - Houdini 4.0 x64 1CPU 170,0: 30,0
Stockfish 8.0 - Houdini 4.0 x64 1CPU 170,0: 30,0

and some thougth H4 is the end of the road.Jouni wrote:Houdini needs some boost against SF. From CEGT testing:

now the same is said about SF: is it close to perfection?
It is closer to BS than to perfection, no offence meant. Without quiescent search, engines would be extremely weak, but in this way they do not make gross mistakes, while humans make big blunders here and there, as they do not have quiescent search.

Definetely not!! Why I know this? The match was played on my computer with my legal and registered copy of Houdini 4Jouni wrote:Maybe CEGT Houdini is again "unregistered" version .
The result is extraordinary though (90 points above the overall performance) and I'll have a closer look to the games when the test is finished. No time for that now.
