Is Komodo 11 on the way?

Or even Komodo 10.3 or 10.4 or whatever, but with great improvements even over 10.2, in playing strength (a general term, i know)?
I actually feel that Komodo needs to try to get about 100 more elo, to get to first place. But THEN it would be very good for a long time, i think.
Komodo needs to safely overtake SF8 as well as what ever is in store for us with Houdini 5.
So WILL Komodo add something close to a further 100 elo by christmas, by next TCEC or by it's superfinal? Or will it only have 100 elo in 20 months from now, being +- 5 elo per month?

I think you are a SF fan boy.

Komodo is very strong and I can see for SF not a bigger Advantage as maybe 25 ... max 30 Elo.

In my opinion it is sensational what the Komodo Team do here. In Stockfish Team are much more people working.

And Houdini?
Do you think really that one Person alone can top SF without to use the knowledge, freely available in Stockfish sources. A person made in the past a 1:1 Robolino copy and tell us ... all is mine.

All is possible with a wonder!
And wonder in computer chess in times today ... I can't believe it.

God moves in mysterious ways.
And Computer chess People have many medals here.

Wishfullness!

We can be very proud that in the year 2016 programs like Komodo and Stockfish have over 3.200 Elo ... 400 more as the best Players in the World.

And not 3.300 or 3.400 or 3.500 Elo or whatever we like to see.

That is gigantic!

And believe me ... I am a AnMon, Hakkapeliitta and Spark Fanboy. Komodo and Stockfish are great engines and for me not important which one is stronger but 100 Elo differents ... is wishfullness!

1 ELO point per week would be normal. So from 3200 to 3500 would be 300 weeks is about 6 years. Maybe (more) perfect play in 2023.

Stockfish is definitely more than 20 to 30 Elo stronger. One big private test that was shared on the Fishtest forum shows +70 Elo. Mohammed's asmFish at four minute\two second increment showed +90 Elo over Komodo 10.1 according to a private tester who I know. Continually, someone stated that Komodo only scored 40 percent on IPON versus the fish. Stockfish is not that far off from 100 Elo over Komodo in head to head match ups (60 to 70 Elo is sensible; asmFish should be more); what it certainly is not is a mere 20 to 30 Elo. That is wishful thinking at best.

Stockfish is of the community. It was only a matter of time before the fruits of their hard efforts would begin to exaltingly emerge.

I do agree with you - what both Mark and Larry have done is absolutely phenomenal. Komodo is a potent, and death-defyingly strong chess engine.

OK Adam,

you have to know that I like your comments but we should start a personal fight for that question!

Give me your exactly tip how many ELO ASM Fish 17Oct2016 BMI2 x64 C15 can be the final results!

My tipp:
30 Elo better as Komodo 10.2 x64!

1. I can speak from 1 core on fast and modern Intel hardware with longer time controls I am using only. I can't speak for more processors (never tested out which one have the better support with more as 1 core).

2. You can see on the site by Stefan Pohl that Stockfish is much stronger as 30 Elo as Komodo 10.1. Absolutely! Because SF made more plys and for extrem blitz is the results logicial ... Komodo need more time ... should be clear. Other rating systems we know have results with extrem blitz on slower Hardware or AMD hardware too and in all of the available results ... not enough opponents.

The 40 days old SF 18Sep2016 with the compile by ii u. ll is at the moment
...

Code: Select all

   1 SF 18Sep2016 BMI2 x64 C10 : 3217.49 2432 87.7 1843 578 11 2132.0 23.8 15.58 2843.19 10.56 48.9
   2 Komodo 10.2 x64 C15 : 3203.33 1568 86.5 1159 395 14 1356.5 25.2 18.04 2846.12 10.56 49.0
14 Elo stronger.
+ max. 10 for the newer SF Version and + max 5 for the ASM compile.

My tipp = 30 Elo!

Never, never, never 60 Elo.
60 Elo more = 91% of points in my list ... never, never!

Adam ...
Your move ... hope so ... so the test I am starting soon is more interesting ...

:-)

Friendly
Frank

Hi Paul,

all is OK ... it was 40/2.
Not sure how many opponents you have but the results is the same others have with fast time controls. Komodo need time ...

Can be see in Analyse mode.

After three days 10.2 available I have other results after now 1.600 games vs. 49 opp. ... sorry all need longer here because I am using much longer time controls.

The complete list is interesting from your test ...
Have interest to see it ...

:-)

Thanks and ...

Best
Frank
