Rodent Karpov+Topalov REALISTIC Personalities (coming soon)

Post by BrendanJNorman »

Hey Guys,

Been super busy lately and have had no time for hobbies...

BUT... my Rodent Karpov and Topalov personalities (or "GMs in a box" as I call them, since they have a dedicated opening book to exactly match the player's repertoire) are almost ready, I'll just tweak a little more and make the ideas available on my site (so busy even my site hasnt been updated for two months :( )

Here are some samples for style comparison:

Real Anatoly Karpov:

You can't tell the difference, right? :D

Note the move 36...b6!? which highlights that fact that white is in fact in zugzwang. None of his pieces can move and Karpov just waits.

What about this one...

Both the personalities styles are basically IDENTICAL to the real life GM.

Now I can play training games against Topalov or Karpov, whenever I want!

Will finish tweaking and share within a few days (when my work is caught up).

Keep up the great work (to the programming geniuses behind all of this).

Haha! Thank Pawel for giving us the ability to basically lobotomize Rodent in 20,000 different ways via his online personality tuner!

Much more fun than downloading the latest Stockfish every hour and getting

I have so many GMs I wanna clone (via Rodent) it's developing into a mental illness. :D

What gave it away?

Perhaps the words: "Keep up the great work (to the programming geniuses behind all of this)"?

What you witnessed was me sharing my passion for chess (and appreciation of what guys like Pawel, Ed and others who program for playing 'style', as well as strength), and even if you aren't, many computer chess enthusiasts ARE interested in what I've shared.

I receive emails every week (via my website mailing list) asking when the next new engine personality is coming, or for my settings for this or that engine.

If you'd prefer stay in the basement and run a 10,000 game match between various SF derivatives (that are 2 hours and 20 minutes old), while not understanding a single move they made (if you bothered to even check the games), go for it.

But don't pollute my post with your condescending tone and venomous attitude.

I checked your previous posts and even going back years, you've rarely had anything but mean or negative things to say to people.

Historical evidence points to you being not a very nice human being, John.

Wake up to yourself and learn to be nice.

Forgot to mention...

The settings might seem a little extreme to you, since I had no worries at all about sacrificing strength to get the style I was aiming for.

When I checked Topalov's games and seen the win against Prodeo 2.2 (which appears to be a big jump in strength, plus lovely playing style returned), I couldn't believe it honestly.

I thought Arena must have crashed and misreported the result, but then I looked at the game...

Any news on Rodent for what's on the horizon?

I'm slowly working on a multiprocessor version of Rodent. The main problem is that it was impossible to do using the current codebase, so I had to retract hundreds of changes in order to make it work. Right now I'm in the process of adding them back and testing them one by one.

That was NOT necessary!

No one forces you to read Brendans arcticles - I am VERY intersted in his work and read his blog regulary.
