I guess IPhone 7 will come at some 2.8 Mnps, being strongest overall, because it achieves that on only 2 cores. Single core performance would be on a par with an i5 core.

No it's not. Those CPUs have 8 threads. The Apple one achieves 2.5 MN/s on 2.

Last time I tested it single core clock for clock was above an i5....

Important is how much NPS a phone can produce.
Why no benchmark on 4 cores ?
If it has 4 cores I would run the benchmark on 4 cores.
