What happened to 1 Nc3. The so called computer opening. I don't see it played anymore by computers.

That opening is known by many names like Van Geet, but it has never been popular because it doesn't do much. The winning percentage for white is even less than 50%, according to Wikipedia. So I guess computers don't play it anymore because they have become stronger.
Here the search for the CT800 in the PC version (one thread since the program doesn't support multithreading):
Code: Select all
Depth Eval Seconds Principal Variation
--- ---- ------- -------------------
3 0.27 0.01 d2d4 g8f6 c1g5
4 0.28 0.01 d2d4 g8f6 c1f4 b8c6
5 0.32 0.02 d2d4 d7d5 g1f3 c8f5 c1f4
6 0.22 0.04 d2d4 d7d5 c1f4 g8f6 g1f3 c8f5
7 0.30 0.14 d2d4 d7d5 c1f4 c8f5 g1f3 b8c6 b1c3
8 0.20 0.52 e2e4 b8c6 g1f3 g8f6 e4e5 f6e4 d2d3 e4c5
9 0.36 1.26 e2e4 b8c6 g1f3 g8f6 b1c3 e7e6 d2d4 f8b4 c1g5
10 0.18 10.25 d2d4 g8f6 e2e3 e7e6 g1f3 b8c6 f1d3 f8e7 e1g1 e8g8
11 0.33 36.62 e2e4 e7e6 d2d4 f8b4 c1d2 b8c6 c2c3 b4e7 f1d3 d7d5 b1a3 g8f6
12 0.31 92.08 e2e4 e7e5 g1f3 g8f6 f3e5 d7d6 e5c4 f6e4 d2d3 e4f6 c1e3 c8f5
13 0.35 198.99 e2e4 e7e5 g1f3 g8f6 f3e5 d8e7 d2d4 d7d6 e5f3 e7e4 c1e3 f6d5 b1d2 d5e3
Of course, using the opening book, any move can be re-introduced, but since the question was with a search tree, I think the point was that they don't play it all by themselved, willingly.
In the opening book of CT800, 1. c3 is available as passive knowledge with many different lines to continue - just in case the opponent should play it.
