Questions about Timea and Darmenios (probably @CCRL+CEGT)

Post by Guenther »

The new XB/UCI chronology is nearly ready and I am currently filling in the last column about rating classes.
Here I noticed that Darmenios 0.7 is quite around 200 RP stronger than the last known release 0.4.
Is this a private version?

About Timea I found zero release informations at all in all fora?
I know it was always private and played at ChessWar and WBEC in my active times.
Then it seems it suddenly apeared in 2015/03 with a Jim Ablett version 4a18 which
originated from 2008/05 according to my research.

What was the deal? How was it announced? Who knows something?

Similar issue:

Gargamella 0.70 is private IIRC?

What about Dreamer versions 0.30X?
They are much stronger than 0.20 but I don't see them released?

Dear Guenther and Norbert,

I am the author of Timea. I participated in the past with Timea in different internet tournaments as a private engine but as it was not on the level which I considered strong enough to make it public I didn't do it. On the other hand as it is leaked now I don't have any bad feeling to offer it for anyone who wants to play with it. For beginner developers it should be a formidable opponent (around 2200 CCRL rating). I dont remember how stable it is though. I hope its native java source is not in the code because it is quite messy and I am not proud of it.:)

So guys, use it as you wish!

I thank you for the interest, anyway!

Kind regards,
Laszlo
