Mister Queen UCI ?

Post by Guenther »

https://github.com/fogleman/MisterQueen

This program is listed as source only in the computerchesswiki.

It looks complete (3rep detection missing) and original to me.
(last real work done on it in 2014/11)
It would be nice if someone could try a compilation.

Thanks Jose.

Today I had time to test it. It only works as long as the internal book is concerned. Immediately after book end it exits :(
This means I haven't seen it searching at all so far and there isn't much to conclude from the logs/debug either.

Example last move:

Code: Select all

1465898069.554 Adapter->GUI: move d7d6
1465898069.554 POLYGLOT MOVE d6
1465898069.554 POLYGLOT THINK -> WAIT
1465898071.280 GUI->Adapter: time 17996

1465898071.280 GUI->Adapter: usermove g2g3

1465898071.280 Adapter->Engine: go wtime 177310 btime 179960 movestogo 38
1465898075.267 POLYGLOT *** Mainloop has ended ***
1465898075.268 POLYGLOT Closing engine.
1465898075.268 Adapter->Engine: EOF
1465898075.268 POLYGLOT Waiting for child process to exit.
1465898075.272 POLYGLOT pipex_exit(): MisterQueenDJ.exe: child exited unexpectedly.
1465898075.273 POLYGLOT *** QUIT ***
1465898075.473 POLYGLOT Calling exit
Any ideas?
(If it will not play at all I need to remove it again from the chronology)

Finally - 4 years later a working compile from myself and a new entry in the chronology ;-)

Thanks Günther for raising the ATTACK TABLE issue.

In master the date of the files is 2020 April 8 so I use it as version number until Michael fulfils your request.

Please don't use that date for now Gabor.
The last change concerning the engine itself really was from 2014-11-26, changing the name from Chess to MisterQueen.

The other few later commits only regard the readme (adding a link to the icon) and github infrastructure and a compiling flag

OK. I'll probably wait for a 'real' release anyway.

Not sure, if that comes at all - quite some programs, which are known and tested have no 'real' release at github anyway
Someone had to create working compilations, that's the history of the community over more than two decades ;-)

Requiem e.g. also does not know three time rep...and surely others too.
In the past 'they' added even some really buggy programs to the list of available chess programs, ok in the early times there were not
so much programs and new toys were welcomed obviously.
OTH I never understood the need of Norbert (much later) to dig so deep and drag every quirky thing into daylight, w/o even knowing
if the source would give a complete program, or how buggy it was.
I would wipe a few out from the chronology, but history cannot be returned.
