In another forum (link below)there is another new chess engine announced with a github rep.
At first sight it looks like no clone and no derivate. No idea though why it was announced as 'Paladin'?
I found not the slightest evidence for this name in the source where it is referenced as Ankans chess engine.
And it always crashes here - probably my quad (2009) is too old for the instructions, thus I cannot check it further...

https://github.com/ankan-ban/chess_cpu
It would be nice if someone could compile it again and also check if it is no clone and no unrevealed derivate.
Note:
The also announced 'Irina' is currently just an unchanged Winglet derivate (legally noted though) with no further commits than the first source import.
New engine?

I don't understand what's the problem with derivative. Stockfish is a derivative of Glaurung too.

Hello Guenther:
Just in case you are not aware, Ankan is a member of TalkChess. You can PM him.
He also programmed a very fast perft counter, as it can be read from some of his posts.
Regards from Spain.
Ajedrecista.

Re: New engine?
To reread the code, the name of the engine is Paladin.

I did not recognize the source code, so it seems original to me.

Meanwhile I checked the latest master snapshot and the name really was
changed to Paladin by the author.
The snapshot (no official relese) is called Paladin 0.1.
The compiled exe in that version also crashes here though.
=> Paladin added to my chronolgy

Re: New engine?
Hello Daniel José:
The same with paladin_64_nopopcnt.exe, but it is totally expected. Anyway, thanks for your effort.
Regards from Spain.
Ajedrecista.
My case is even worse than Guenther's: I have Windows XP 32-bit in an Intel Pentium D930 (from 2006). I try paladin_32.exe from cmd and an error message appears: 'paladin_32.exe is not a valid Win32 application'. ?? This message had only appeared when I tried to open 64-bit executables... until now. I am puzzled!cdani wrote:Hi. Here a 32 bits and a 64 bits no popcnt for old cpus:
