One question: what is the difference between the 'standalone' binaries and non-standalone ones?

Major changes:

— Syzygy tablebases support;
— no more Nalimov EGTB support;
— more agressive forward pruning;
— better time management;
— several optimizations;
— further eval tuning.

Estimated Elo gain: +50
Many thanks Sergei.

Best,
Gerold.

I'm just realised that values.txt is missing in smt195.zip
Please redownload it because w/o this file the engine will play much worse.

One question: what is the difference between the 'standalone' binaries and non-standalone ones?

Cheers,

Standalone versions don't require Intel redistributable package to be installed.

Hi Sergei,

at first, thanks for SmarThink 1.95!

I try out the 1.95 AVX and 1.95 AVX standalone versions.
Windows 7 Pro with Shredder Classic GUI.

The following *.eng file (only the two exe files and values.txt ... you added today in SmarThink download directory on your site ... in SmarThink directory (without the older SmarThink.ini).

eng file:

Code: Select all

[ENGINE]
Name=SmarThink 1.95 AVX x64
Author=Sergei S. Markoff
Filename=C:\Chess\Shredder_12\Engines\SmarThink_195\SmarThink_195-AVX-x64.exe
[OPTIONS]
PawnHash=16
SyzygyPath=c:\Chess\_syzygybases
Now the following constellation:
I edit a position for checking syzygybases (works fine or not).

White King: h1
White Bishop: h3
White Knight: h2
Black King: h8

I can see ...

Code: Select all

Found 0 tablebases.
Found 35 tablebases.
Engine: SmarThink 1.95 AVX x64 (512 MB)
von Sergei S. Markoff
1. Why "Found 0 tablebaes" at first?

Now I start the analyzes ...

Found 0 tablebases.
Found 35 tablebases.
Engine: SmarThink 1.95 AVX x64 (512 MB)
von Sergei S. Markoff
3/06 0:00 +17.15 1.Sf3 Kh7 2.Se5 (88) TB:12
4/06 0:00 +16.96 1.Sf3 Kh7 2.Le6 Kh8 (180) TB:12

2. Why SmarThink will give not a mate information?

OK ... I am looking again in UCI Parameter of SmarThink and see this one ...

3. Double entries ...

Have a look here:
www.amateurschach.de/common/smarthink_195-avx-x64.jpg

If I load again and again ...
More and more of the same entries in SmarThink UCI paramaters.

Same with the other AVX version, other versions not checked.

Best
Frank
