Hello Jesse:
Thanks for the link! I will try to watch a bit of the match although I am totally clueless about Go.

Will this match be a milestone? I want to think that it is comparable to Deep Blue versus Kasparov or Chinook versus Tinsley matches.

Chinook is an American checkers/English draughts engine. Tinsley was the best player in the history of this game. There were two matches between them: London 1992 (+4 =33 -2 in favour of Tinsley) and Boston 1994 (+0 =6 -0 and Tinsley forfeited due to a severe illness).

Just to warm up the imminent human-machine Go match, I would like to write a little about those two historical matches.

A summary of London 1992 match can be found in pages 275-322 (chapters 16 and 17) of the book One Jump Ahead. Computer Perfection at Checkers. Revised Edition. It includes some logs of the games.

A summary of Boston 1994 match can be found in chapter 21 of the same book. Fortunately, there is a long summary of this match online.

I recommend these readings to everyone if you have some spare time.

Regards from Spain.

Ajedrecista.

This video is 4 hours long. Has anyone watched it? Have the experts discerned any weaknesses in this version of AlphaGo?

Remember that in the first game in the first match between Deep Blue and Kasparov on 1996, Deep Blue won the first game - but Gary hit right back by winning the second game, going on to win the match 4-2, so it's not over yet...

For me it is over now that the computer has actually won one game against a 9d. Most were predicting 5-0 in favor of Lee.

Expert analysis is that both players made mistakes - link.

The match is not yet a foregone conclusion.

I do not know what was the opinion of the majority but I did not predict 5-0 in favor of Lee.
I wrote in another thread before the beginning of the first game:
"I will not be surprised if AlphaGo wins every game because it is obvious that in every complex game a computer is going to beat every human if the programmers are good enough."

Sorry Jesus. I don't know what happened. I typed in ["Go" game] into Google
and a very informative article on the game appeared but when I copied the link
and pasted it onto your letter it came up with something completely different.
You might have more success if you go -no pun intended- directly to Wikipedia
yourself.
