Thank you Dan, Andreas, Harvey and T.Poppins.
I looked at the intel link and it seems the processor models I have are too old for the bmi version. The POPCNT version does seem to run fine/good on both so now I'm analyzing all my old games with the newest Stockfish 7 POPCNT version.

P.S. in case any one cares, the Xeon processor version are:
E5-2430 v2 2.5 GHz (6 core)
xeon x5675 3.07 GHz (12 core)
Once I get the 1600 or so old games I have in my personal games collection done (Fritz 15 interface with stockfish using the "full analysis" function) I'll probably just stick with the 12 core server for analyzing new games.
