Firenzina-2.4.3 for the Mac updated.

Post by MikeB »

Previous distribution was not Firenzina-2.4.3 - this one is. Ignore the 2.4.4 below- the only thing different is that the sources were updated for the Mac on Git Hub.

I will be pulling down the previous file with 24 hours. This version compiles great - there are some comments in the makefile and then simply type "make" at the command prompt

Currently - Firenzian is the second strongest chess program available for the Mac that is free and open source.

[d]1Qb2rk1/1p3ppp/5q2/1p1Pp3/1PPpPBn1/P5P1/7P/R3KB1R b - - 2 7

This is the position from Nolot #6 after several moves been played. Most programs will see d3 winning and that was thought to be best move here, but Bf4! is even more damaging and Firenzina-2.4.3 finds that move in 24 seconds on my machine (single core) - current Crafty sees it 7 seconds which is awesome -I suspect some engines will find it instantaneously..

Just realized that some people may not realize thaw with dropbox, you change the last number to 1 to download. There are other methods as well.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ki2zvfwxh4dpg ... 4.zip?dl=1 I rather give people chance to view first rather than assuming they want to download it first.
