Hi
I have recently purchased a 64bit Windows laptop but unfortunately this has stopped me using WChess 2000 within ChessGenius Classic which is only for 32bit computers.
Which other 64bit chess program would let me use WChess besides Arena?
Thanks
Bryan

I think there are solution to run old applications on modern Windows. May be this one http://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download ... px?id=8002 . But there are other "virtual Windows".
Or you can simply install Arena (download here : http://www.playwitharena.com/ ) and the latest Stockfish about 1000 Elo point stronger than WChess (download here : http://abrok.eu/stockfish/ )

The genius 7 gui runs very well under windows 7 64bit.

So you can run Wchess 2000, Zarkov 5 and Shredder 4 under this gui.

Hi, I managed to run the engine inside W7 64bit.
But during the matches got some problems with Hash and timecontrol.
So I installed W7 32bit on an usb Stick with win2usb.

Sorry forgot to tell you that I am running Windows 8.
Many thanks for the replys and here is Richard Lang's reply to my question that has just arrived.

Hi Bryan,

No, it is not compatible with any 64 bit version of Windows. The ChessGenius Classic engine is written in assembly language which will not run. It is not possible to recompile to 64 bit. There is no solution - short of a complete rewrite.

It will run in some 64bit versions of Windows 7. The 64 bit versions of Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate support Windows XP Mode which does allow ChessGenius to run. See
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtua ... nload.aspx . This has been removed from Windows 8.

Best regards,
Richard

So you say that Wchess 2000 and Zarkov 5 Chess Genius Dll's work in Arena as well as ChessGenius 7.2? How do you set them up to work??

ps...What we really could use (for the smart folks in the forum) is a converter so the chess genius gui (GENG7) engine can be used in Arena and Chessbase so it could finally be fully tested out of the w16 Chessgenius GUI
Thx.......AAR :)

Hi, I was not able to run the 16bit Chessgenius Engine direct inside a 64bit system (Windows 7/8). It only worked with an emulation of 32bit Windows - but the engines run very slow.

So best is to boot the pc from a Memory stick or an usb disk with an 32bit Windows.
