Indeed, well done, it was a good match. It looks like Komodo has a very nice attack going in the last game also.

komodo has obviously won now, and ends with a 3 point lead.
Congrats.

(Did komo win in the past too?)

Stockfish played some fine games, displaying some really brilliant attacks and sacrifices. However in the end Komodo displayed some superb defensive technique, and showed some brilliant play of it's own.

Komodo 33.5
Stockfish 30.5

Congratulations Team Komodo

Good Job Komodo Team!!

But the issue here is the All White Wins. The too long Human made opening must have influenced that result. I suggest to go back to only six Human opening moves and let the engines decide their own path.

Secondly, the opening book should not include piece trades to minimize the draws. Chess is a game with complete set of pieces . Let the engines decide when to trade or not instead of directing them to drawn endings.

Big congratulations to the Komodo team! It was a well fought match. It certainly seems Komodo is scaling better on 16 cores. The NPS increase as the game goes on is very impressive.

To be honest it seemed like this could have gone either way. Komodo seemed to have a more consistently accurate evaluation, while SF is just tactically incredibly strong. However in this format with very strong hardware and extremely long time controls (for computers that is), Komodo seemed to be able to find incredible defensive resources and in many games came out of crazy tactical melees on top and beat SF at his own game. You would think that SF's incredibly deep search would totally outplay Komodo in the endgame, but I think the opposite was true. Komodo was really impressive in how it was able to come up with very deep plans in fortress like positions and force SF into zugwang and loss of material. I got the feeling that with even longer time controls (or read that as faster hardware), Komodo would open up a gap vs. SF. Also SF seemed to have a weaker time control management algo, as it spent way too much time on some obvious captures and kept falling back on the clock ... however I don't think that would have made a difference in the match as they were no one move blunders caused by not having enough time that I could see.

The most notable game must have been game 57 ... and although it ended up in a draw ... it was an incredible attack by SF that would have floored any other chess entity on earth, however Komodo played a perfect defense and never had its evaluation waver. If this game was played by humans for sure it would have been game of the century and the number of "!" and "!!" and "!!!" on both sides would be astronomical. This game is a good example of how far computer chess engines have come!
