Sure, this parameter has only a tiny effect anyway; maybe if we had used zero thruout we might have drawn a game or two that we actually won in the earlier stages, but clearly that would not have changed anything.Modern Times wrote:lkaufman wrote:

OK, so you asked Martin to use a different value in each round ? Makes sense. Presumably though a constant zero value in the earlier rounds would have got you to the final anyway ?

i would also favor TBs in TCEC, at least the final or semifinal stages. i think SSD + free 6-men syzygy just isnt remotely esoteric anymore, anyone who really wants them can get them, & (since i realize that isnt really TCECs logic anyway) different engines clearly utilize them differently, so it is very likely relevant, even if not significant, to their playing strength against one another.

This (as well as the subscription idea) are both under discussion now. I can say that we won't release Komodo 9 without some new features as well as increased strength.shrapnel wrote:Thank You.lkaufman wrote:We gradually moved the negative DrawScore towards zero round by round, using zero in the final.

Larry, for sure, bullet chess for me too, is only like an added bonus, but is not of any major priority.
Even if it is only stronger than all other programs at an hour per move, it is more valuable to me than tournament time controls only.
Such an engine will win tournaments in 5 years from now even without any updates during 5 years, except for faster hardware. And for analysis... I'M prepared to wait an hour!

It is going to win tournaments in 5 years from now only if other engines do not improve but it seems that engines continue to improve.S.Taylor wrote:Larry, for sure, bullet chess for me too, is only like an added bonus, but is not of any major priority.

Congratulations to Komodo!
Theory and practice sometimes clash. And when that happens, theory loses. Every single time.
