New Fischerle Version: 0.9.60

Post by RolandoFurioso »

Hi all,

I have just released a follow-up version of my chess engine: Fischerle 0.9.60. It is available for download at http://www.stuckardt.de/index.php/schac ... herle.html

The main new feature is: Late Move Reduction (LMR).

According to the results that I obtained in some extensive evaluation runs, the new version Fischerle 0.9.60 performs considerably better than its predecessor (Fischerle 0.9.50). In self-play tournaments, Fischerle 0.9.60 scored 14.5:5.5 vs Fischerle 0.9.50 under both longer and shorter time controls. Tournaments against diverse other engines confirmed this picture; of course, the gains observed depend upon both the particular opponent and the chosen time control. My best guess is that the increase in playing strength will amount to several 10 CCRL 40/40 Elo points.

As its predecessor, Fischerle 0.9.60 features both a 64 bit and a 32 bit version, though it is highly recommended to run it in a 64 bit environment.

Have fun!
Roland

Thanks. :)
Not quite sure how much your strength improvement was supposed to be though.

Graham.

What Elo you guess your engine has?

Hi Fernando,

currently, the predecessor of Fischerle 0.9.60 is ranked at #207 with 2260 Elo in CCRL 40/40: http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/40 ... _50_64-bit

Thus, I hope that Fischerle 0.9.60 will score around or slightly above 2300 Elo in this list. But let's see how it will actually fare in the upcoming 49th Amateur Series Division 5 Tournament, where it will probably participate: http://kirill-kryukov.com/chess/discuss ... c2437e6e56.

Yes - the new version is in that tournament, which will start as soon as Division 3 finishes. 8-)

Thanks.
Looks like it is the perfect kind of rival i need. Against a 2300 rival I can have some chances to draw, I mean, one in ten ..:-)
