Well as someone who purchased Naum (many moons ago) it is nice to see the updated version has now been made available to the general public at last. It has been used (updated version) in a couple of tournaments; which I could not myself understand when those that paid a lot of money for that engine were not able to get any updates.

As for being a clone of Rybka etc, if I remember it was on the market before or at the same time as Rybka, its playing 'style' is much the same. Myself I do not care one bit if (A) copies (B) and then (C) improves on both, that's how you get progress!

No
Similarity tests showed a similarity between naum and rybka and not a simlarity between naum and Fruit.

If you say that Naum is a fruit derivative only because the programmer of naum learned a lot from rybka and the programmer of rybka learned a lot from fruit then almost every chess program is a derivative.

In this diagram shows a strong relationship to Naum-Strelka.

Btw,
It looks like Naum is more near to Rybka derivative !)
Note also, as far as I remember Naum 4.2 was above 60% close to Rybka 3, based Pia's sim test results!
And in my eyes too,
Any engine which is above 55% of similarity is under lupe )!

Hopes helps,

One question (for those who claim that Rybka is clone of Fruit)
If Rybka is clone of Fruit, why the similarity data show us 48 % ???

I would really like to see a Rybka 5 for sure. I am sure it would be a monster or will this be like Fischer winning the WC and then that's it?

I hardly doubt that we will see ever Rybka 5

After those BIG injustices over Vas...I don't think he will come on the scene again...

Sad, but true...
