As I understand, it is not necessary to modify the engine programming to play by the new rules of repetitions and 50 moves.
The GUI, they would have to offer the possibility of draw where there have been 5 reps or 75 moves without a pawn move or no captures and no engines have claimed a draw, before that they no should stop the game.
But it's interesting wath said Ferdinand, if your engine is better, it is silly asking a draw by 50 mov rule, imagine for example that your engine has bishop and knight against King, if you engine not have endgame tables may have difficulty winning in 50, in this case if you do not claim draw and your opponent also, you can have 25 extra moves to try to win before the GUI adjudicate draw. If you win you may want to change your move rule to 75.
