Your point? Thorsten

You have confused me with another members post

I have never been aggressive period

Show me the posts where I have been

So why use rolling eyes?

Due to my findings and the rapid excellent Fix by Komodo team we
Now have a good working syzygy engine.

Read all my posts in this thread I have never been aggressive
Only defensive now.
Do any other members believe any of my posts have been aggressive?

I have just posted on here my many thanks to the team for sorting this problem quickly!

And i have posted at rybka forum that the problem now appears to be resolved.

As a paying customer i have aired my findings and together i and komodo team and others support here have resolved it for the good of all users.

Do you not agree?

Let him roll his eyes till they pop out of his head...who carez ?
By the way, I see that Syzygy Probe Depth has been kept at 2 as Default. Can this safely be raised to 9 or 10 for people with fast SSDs ?

Thank You.
Yes, I have a Corsair Force GS 360 GB SSD which I have dedicated entirely to Syzygy 6 man EGTB and I see a kN/s speed increase when Probe limit is raised to 9 from 2, in my online games, though I'm not very sure about this, as I haven't played many games yet with this new Komodo.
I suppose the large number of TB hits at Probe Limit 2 slows down Komodo, inspite of using a very fast SSD.
Maybe you can confirm it.

The setting of 2 is already the most aggressive; using 9 or 10 would mean fewer tb accesses. Those with very slow hard drives might want to use a higher value than 2, perhaps 6 would be reasonable. Values below 2 seem to just be bad.

Things are not so simple as you put it. It would be helpful if Ronald de Man posted his views on the matter here.
This topic has been discussed in relation to usage of Syzgy TBs by Stockfish on the Rybka Forum.
I should think that the same principles will apply to Komodo and Syzygy.
It is true that a Setting of 9 or 10 will result in fewer TB accesses, BUT, not by much !!..especially on fast SSDs !
This is because, no matter however fast the SSD there WILL be a definite, if slight, drop in kN/s speed with repeated ( and sometimes useless) TB Probes, especially early in the game !
In the end, one has to strike the right BALANCE, between the gain of ELO from TB usage and the DROP in ELO from kN/s drop.
Yes, I know that having a fast SSD will cause less drop in kN/s speed, BUT the drop in kN/s speed will definitely cause a drop in ELO, over a period of time.
In the end, like I said, its all a matter of striking the right balance, especially in the case of SSD users !
