The version that you posted for Graham - the non popcount version works fine on my rig. Can set the cores without issue.

I still get an error from Chessbase even with the re-built exe: " runtime error in 1014: 528".

Seems to be Chessbase specific because I can run Arasan in Arena or ChessGUI with multiple cores.

And the strange thing is, I get no debug log (if enabled) or anything else from the program, just the ChessBase error.

No. I do not currently think your issue (unlike Graham's) is a build problem.

I have Arasan 17.0 win32 successfully loaded like a "Kiebitz" engine for analysis into ChessBase 12 without difficulties.

But I informed Peter Schreiner again because ChessBase 12 has a separate MSI for win32 and x64 edition.
