Results of a programmer poll trying to measure the interest among chess programmers if on-site tournaments (like the WCCC and the yearly CSVN) still have a reasonable future.

Some remarks.
1. About 80 programmers were asked to participate.
2. Aside from the low attendance the financial aspect seems the dominant ingrediënt not to attend.
My provisional conclusion is (considering that only 15% of those who were invited actually participated in the poll) there hardly is interest any longer in on-site tournaments and that online tournaments are the future.

Well, an obvious problem with that is that on-line events don't seem to attract any participants either.

Re: Results Programmer Poll
As at boxing events there is a need for different classes of weight. If one will see well known bolides coming, you only could stay away or create some sort of a clone, except of those rare but willing top dogs. It seems to be somehow boring to see newborn participants ruinously being beaten by the Klitschkos.
