Which are the chess engines written from scratch ?

Any engine authors who never looked at other source codes?

I think the whole 'from scratch' thing is a bit mistaken. Or at least it can be very fine grained. If somebody looks at the source code for crafty's SEE and then write something similar, is that 'from scratch'? If somebody looks at a list of REBELS evaluation terms, and then implement similar terms herself, is that 'from scratch'? If I copy pseudo code for PVS from Wikipedia and turn it into C-code, is that 'from scratch'?

With so much inbreed in the chess engine world, maybe we need a 'similarity measure' of sorts..
