!!! A hard position.!!!

Post by neelbasant »

Hi all

Here is the position for your engine to test it's ability to understand position.

r1b2k1r/pp2bpp1/4p2p/q1npP3/1n3BQP/2NB1N2/PPP2PP1/1K1R3R w - - 0 15

White to play..

Neel

P.S.: Move is not winning for white but Clearly the best and most chances of win.

I am not an engine, and this position is very difficult for me to play correctly without many calculations, but, the first 2 moves that come to mind are, Rh3 (aiming at Rg3), and Bg5.

On Rh3 black has h5, and the queen has to retreat, while white playing h5 himself seems a bit slow. So I think the move is Bg5 :D (but I would never play the move myself in a quick game, not knowing what happens)

Houdini 3 in tactical mode seems to like 1.Bg5 after a little over 3 minutes with a slight edge to white.

This seems to come from the advance variation of french, I believe RH3 and Rg3 seems like a good plan.

At the moment, Stockfish also says Bg5, with a score of 0:

It is interesting how the Stockfish lines change with more time.
