Square colors

Post by Kempelen »

Over the years I have collected a few square color themes that have attracted me and want to make a contribution and share with all:

Code: Select all

IN RGB:
Blue Theme
	Light =  68,  80,  92 (173,204,209 = ADCCD1)
    Dark  =  57,  67,  80 (145,171,204 = 91ABCC)

Light Blue Theme
    Light = 100, 100, 100 (255,255,255 = FFFFFF)
	Dark  =  62,  81,  92 (158,207,235 = 9ECFEB)

Brown Theme 1
    Light = 97, 85, 68 (249, 218, 174 = 615544)
        Dark = 89, 61, 37 (227, 156, 94 = 593D25)

Brown Theme 2
    Light =  80,  70,  60 (204,179,153 = CCB399)
	Dark  =  60,  50,  40 (153,128,102 = 998066)

Grey Theme
    Light =  80,  80,  80 (204,204,204 = CCCCCC)
	Dark  =  65,  65,  65 (166,166,166 = A6A6A6)
I specially like Blue Theme when I am playing. The colors are soft and allow me to concentrate better than others.
When seeing games or watching my engine playing I choose the others specially brown, or bmp wood squares.

Do you have special preferences for square colors?

I agree... a light blue color for the dark square is just about ideal.

I'm also fond of a light brown (tan) color for the dark squares.

Also, the white squares should not be white, if the pieces are white. To clarify, you want to have a contrast between the pieces and the squares, so the pieces don't "blend in" to the squares.

The link below shows a screenshot of 20 different "wood" textures I recently created, for your favorite GUI.
