Hello can someone tell me the significant differences between these two versions of SCID?

As far i Know, the most significant difference SCIDvsPC is maintained by Atkinson, who time to time posts here and is working making this version even better and also compatible with MAC, Linux and Windows. So you can expect new features, bug fixes and new versions.

In the other side, plain SCID is not longer maintained as far I know.

Not at all! Scid is alive and well: http://scid.sourceforge.net/ I prefer Scid to its rival Scid vs. PC.

OK... didnt know. By the time I made my decision i chosed vsPC because i feel it has better support. And even today you can read readon SCIDvsPC web site:
"Scid vs. PC is a usability and bug-fix fork of Scid. It has extensive interface fixes and improvements, and is fully compatible with Scid's .si4 databases. It's new features include a totally rewitten Gamelist, a Computer Tournament, and FICS, Tree and Book improvements."
http://sourceforge.net/projects/scidvsp ... ecommended
