Official (re)launch of TCEC - website is up!

Post by Martin Thoresen »

Hi all,

Hopefully it will be a fun time ahead. TCEC is back!

To check it out, you can go to: http://www.tcec-chess.net
All "old TCEC" games can be found in the archive: http://www.tcec-chess.net/game_archive.php
All info and explanations can be found in the info page: http://www.tcec-chess.net/info.php

Season 1 will start soon. I will come back later with a more detailed date. An approximate time frame is within 1-2 weeks.
I will also need to decide on a decision regarding the opening book, any help on this matter will be most appreciated.
Preliminary list of participants can be found in the engine ratings page: http://www.tcec-chess.net/ratings.php

There is now a chatbox too, that accepts logins from Facebook or Twitter, or as a guest.
If the latter proves to be problematic I will disable it so behave!

Spread the word to as many as you can by clicking the Google +1, Facebook Like, or Twitter button in the header.

The website should work in any browser, however for IE, version 7 or lower are not recommended.
For all browsers, Javascript must be enabled to view the games.
Please let me know if you have any trouble with the website!
Contact details are also in the info page.

ChessBomb has agreed to continue the broadcasts too, so of course you can go there too when the first season starts.

Best,
Martin

Hello Martin:

It is great! I have just tried to post some short comments as guest but I can not: each time I tried to send the message, the system asked to login with a new id guest... I suspect that there are now two or three fictional guests due to me.

Just two things regarding participants seen on ratings:

- Dirty last version is 05SEP12, that is 051112 instead of 041112... just a minor thing.

- It is a pity that Komodo version is 3 instead of 5: Komodo 5 is about 30 Elo stronger than 3, as seen in IPON. I know that Komodo 3 is the last free Komodo.

The new TCEC will be superb (like the old one)! Thank you very much.

Regards from Spain.

Thanks! just in time for me to go away, so I will have very reduced time next to a computer.
For these games, it's best to keep it tuned in, and be around
a few times a day, and each time to hover around whilst you're there.

Best,

It would have been absolutely interesting to have 2 versions of Houdini. It is a shame not to make this one exception to the rule.
(I personally would even not minded 3 versions. One reason for an exception would be that all three can be suspected as being the top 3 programs. But if it is hard to do, i greatly would have liked atleast two, maybe 1.5a and 3.0)

Very nice web site. Thanks for including Nebula. Looking forward to watching the games.
Would be nice to have a zoom board feature, so I can watch the games when I am further away from the computer.

Do I have to release the new version in order for it to be included? I am asking because I am soon going to release the new version with evaluation changes only, but I do have some search improvements (adding 40-50 ELO) that I don't plan to release at this time since they are not yet finished.

I am sorry Graham, neither! It will be the latest Komodo dev. version available.

I should really change it in the list, the reason that it was there was because that is all I have at the moment and in my testing. :)

Hi! The chat function should work with about any browser, are you sure you accept cookies? Else you can log in with FB or Twitter.

I've fixed the Dirty name, thanks!

Like I said to Graham, the Komodo used will be latest development version. I will change it in the list. ;)

Best,
Martin
