Ivanchuk-Wang in London: what happened?

Post by noctiferus »

I was looking at the last two minutes of Ivanchuck-Wang video. It seems that Chucky, at some time, is repeatedly complaining about the clock, and, later, the arbiters come in and check it... However, after that, players come back and peacefully sign their sheets. Pity there is no audio...
Can anybody explain me what happened?

On the video after 3:52:30

Looks like Ivanchuk hits the clock after his very fast move, but the clock doesn't switch (looks like it was not pressed correctly). So Ivanchuk had to press it a second time, and felt nervous about this. I didn't watch it further but if he complained it seems it was because of the clock is mechanically buggy or something like this.
