WAC.123

The copy of WAC I've been using for years has Bxd5 and Rc7 as solutions, but what about Re6? This is the choice of my engine, and a few others I have tried, at least at moderate depths. (I didn't notice this before because I was using a 10 second limit for this test, and until recently it was playing Bxd5 at that time interval).

My copy of WAC lists all 3 moves for this position.

Code: Select all

6k1/1b2rp2/1p4p1/3P4/PQ4P1/2N2q2/5P2/3R2K1 b - - bm Bxd5 Rc7 Re6; id WAC.123;
Critter in multipv=3 mode prefers Re6

To quantify, here's what Critter-1.6a (8 threads, 4GB hash) offers using MultiPV=3:
