What are you using when you run 12 threads?
reboot between each test.
first pc is 6 threads single socket
second pc is 12 threads two sockets.
both using same 4096 hash
notice scaling
Critter is not optimized for 12 threads.
even with min split depth at 12, the pc still wont heat up and task manager is not steady and is not near 100%.
