I have an Ipod touch and a Ipad is coming shortly. I am interested in the following programs:
Chess Tiger - One version for both Ipod and Ipad. (Have it.)
Chess Genius - Same as Chess Tiger. (Plan to buy it.)
Stockfish - Same as Chess Tiger. (Have it.)
Shredder - One version for Ipod and another for Ipad. (Plan to buy it.)
Hiarcs - Same as Shredder. (Plan to buy it.)
Are the above statements correct? If so how bad would an Ipod version of say Hiarcs look on Ipad?

Correct - and you can use iPhone/iPod-Hiarcs at the iPad as well without landscape format. The 2x zoom is not very nice but better than before at iOS 4.
The other screen design for Hiarcs HD is indeed a clear plus at the iPad (landscape and upright format).
One comment to ChessGenius: I like the playing style but I think there is a small problem with the new graphic processor of the new iPad (3). The GUI is slower on iPad (3) than on iPad 2.
