If a tournament is organized in the U.S.A. where each player has to face his opponent twice, once in Western Standard Chess and the other game in Japanase Shogi, who do you think a good candidate to win the final tournament would be?

I researched a database on american's Shogi players by States and Larry Kaufman is not on this list, but I know that he is one of the strongest when I researched his name on Google and he is also a Chess grandmaster. My vote goes for Mr. Kaufman

Now at the world level if a tournament of Chess + shogi round robin is ever held where each player first would play Chess then Shogi with the same opponent, I would have to give my vote to Mr. Habu:

My closest rival would be my son IM Raymond Kaufman, who is a bit lower rated than I am in both games but capable of beating me in either, as he did in this year's US shogi Championship. There are two US citizens & residents who are about my level in shogi, namely Rob Uechi and George Fernandez. Both are perhaps around the 2100 level in chess I think.
