So, will the Samsung S7, planned for March, be the first smartphone to break 3000?
That's our only hope. But the new Snapdragon 820 performed slightly inferior to the previous Snapdragon 810 in CRAFTY benchmark so I expect similar result to Stockfish

Wow, 820 really disappoints, in multi-thread integers it will probably be _weaker_ than 810. Good to know. On the other hand, Samsung S7, depending on the region, might come with Exynos 8890, which probably achieves 3,000 kn/s.

Apparently, it's made of two sets of 4 cores of different architectures.
Note : I gave Stockfish 1 GB of hash, as the S6 Edge+ has 4 GB of RAM.

Looking at our collected data in my estimate seems that the ARMs Big Cortex A57 is roughly as fast as Little Cortex A53 in similar frequency. And yes L1 cache size is the bottleneck.

Anandtech just reviewed the Huawei Mate 8 with Kirin 950 cortex A72 CPU
The Crafty benchmark shows
33% faster than latest Samsung Exynos 7420.

Maybe the first smartphone to cross the 3000KN/S in Stockfish benchmark?

Actually my note 5 exceeded 3000kn/s (3217) in the first 5 seconds. But it settled to about 2500kn/s after a minute. I think there is some type of turbo boost going on.

That's bothing but the characteristic of the engine. That's why we need 1,2,3 minutes to see the nps stabilized. The first 20 plies depth makes no sense generally.

It is the chip heat throttling.
