As mentioned several times here and there, this is the L1 cache that counts for chess.

Check L1 before cores and hertz when you wanna buy some other mobile cpu for chess and certainly stay away from 16K.

Yes, Tegra K1 (on HTC Nexus 9) seems to be not much below A9 on Integer operations. It's much weaker on Float Point. The next Exynos won't have more L1 cache, and the next Snapdragon 820 won't be better on Integers than the future Exynos. Apple seems to stay ahead for at least another year on chess performance (and NPS is a bit misleading, A9 2 core NPS are more "valuable" than Exynos NPS on 4 cores because of strength scaling on multicore).

but there is so far no mobile phone with tegra k1/x1. i guess this cpu eats too much energy.

The s6 is fine. It's the newer note 5 and s6 edge plus that's the problem (the best android phones for chess). There is no 3 points menu anywhere. Samsung has changed the menu system completely. I researched and found out they got rid of it all menu functions because most apps already have a dedicated menu button.
I'm not 100% sure this is true but the source seems reliable.
Confirmed,I encountered the same problem....

It looks like the Edge 6 + is totally modified beast regards,

Is the Edge 6 + faster that the stock Samsung S6 for chess, does Droidfish need the menu adjusted for the number of cores which is why it can't be done at the moment? Just that I am in the market for a new phone and would like to know the answer to this question. I suppose the author of Droidfish already knows about the "menu" problems on the new Samsung phones and will be planning a fix. Are there any other android apps that use a 64 bit Stockfish engine that could be tested that don't have the menu option problem?

I have a Galaxy S6 Edge Plus as well, and can report the same problem : no application menu and, hence, no benchmark result (or just to report that Stockfish runs at 480 knps with only one core (and I doubt it would become 3264 Knps on 8 cores ;) ).

I've sent a mail to Peter two weeks ago, to report this problem to him, but got no answer...

As a happy owner of a quad Exynos 4412, all i can say is my congrats to Samsung. Looks like cancelling a useful button is a very bright idea!
Long live Android 32 bits with 100+ engines running. I still don't need the extra 40 elos of a 64 bits O/S.
Regarding the cpu perfo, take a closer look at Vibe X2 with 8 cores.

To those having trouble with menu key. for the mean time you try install "Button Savior" from the market. No rooting needed.

Just did a basic test of Droidfish on my Samsung Note II with different core usage.
1 core = 203kn/s
2 core = 404kn/s
3 core = 603 kn/s
4 core = 790 kn/s
So maybe the S6 Edge Plus could make a new record. Would be good to know what owners of the S6 can obtain with just one core as that could give an idea if S6 Edge Plus will be on top.
