What about the upcoming devices with Tegra K1 which is supposed to be between 2 and 3 times faster than Tegra 4 ?

Re: What about LG google nexus 5 ?
I ended up buying Lenovo A3000 with 1.2 GHz quad-core MT8125. The result is 398.000 nps which was a little dissappointment.kaissa wrote:I plan on buying a tablet for reading books and playing chess. For my budget I found 3 tablets locally:mclane wrote:Mediathek kills Qualcomm for chess.
1. Samsung Galaxy Tab III 7.0 with 1.2 GHz dual-core PXA986 (Cortex A9) processor. Around 170$.
2. Asus MemoPad HD 7 with with 1.2 GHz quad-core MT8125 or 8260. I am not sure which one. Around 140$.
3. Lenovo A1000L with 1.0 GHz dual-core MT8317 processor. Around 100$.
Of these Asus seems to have the strongest processor for chess. I would appreciate any recommendations for these.
Best regards,

An Asus Memopad HD7 running the Cortex-A7 MT8125 @ 1.2 ghz gives this results:kaissa wrote:I ended up buying Lenovo A3000 with 1.2 GHz quad-core MT8125. 1core = 131 kN/s
2core = 257 kN/s
4core = 473 kN/s
Had to disable the "Asus intelligent power save" feature for the benchmark. Otherwise the cpu clocks only until 750 mhz and the nodes are lower.
Perhaps your Lenovo has enabled some tricky power saving too? With Cool Tool you can monitor the cpu-load & -clock (& others) in the tray of your android device.

You can add the Lenovo A8-50 8" tab with 3G (A5500-H) to your list. It's running the MediaTek MT8382 quad core Cortex-A7 at 1.3 GHz.mclane wrote:Mediathek kills Qualcomm for chess.
Stockfish 2.22 = 482 kN/s
Stockfish DD = 534 kN/s
Not sure which engine versions you are using to compare.

Re: What about LG google nexus 5 ?
Very patiently waiting for someone to post the performance of the Snapdragon 801. Why? I am due for an phone upgrade in July and I have my eyes set on the new LG G3. That is unless someone can convince me that the 805 (which the Galaxy S5 Prime and Note 4 will have) is vastly superior from a chess standpoint.
Of course, I believe that Android will make the big leap next year when they go 64 bit, 20 nm, and possibly octacore.

Re: What about LG google nexus 5 ?
I doubt there will be a smartphone with 805 soc because it has no lte and is big in size, normally not made for smartphones but tablets. The first next Qualcomm CPU for mobiles will be 808.
Btw... I also ordered a g3 nevertheless is has only a 801 CPU.
Alternative would be a cheap china mobile with mediathek 8 core CPU . You can get them from 100 to 200 euro depending on the specifications. They are very good for chess too. As fast as iPhones.
e.g. we have benchmarks of
TCL Idol X+ S960 ( 8 cores 2.0 GHz) 1.112.000
Zopo ZP998 (8 cores) 1.100.000
Star Ulefone U9592 (8 cores 1.6 Ghz) 1.080.000
but its unimportant which octa core with mediathek chip you buy. all the 1.7 ghz cpus are in the same area.
therefore you can also buy cheap ones.

benchmark result of HTC one M8: Snapdragon 801 with 4x 2.3 Ghz
590.000 NPS
as you see there is no difference between 800 or 801.

Re: What about LG google nexus 5 ?
Slightly faster because the S5 Runs 4x 2.5 ghz.
But believe me any mediathek octa core mobile from china is faster then the Qualcomm 800 or 801 for chess.
Take a look here
http://www.efox-shop.com
Octa core mobiles begin 100 euro up to 200 or more.
