New tool for studying chess ebooks on Android phone/tablet

Post by asimpereira »

Hi,

I recently released my second Chess app to the Android market.
"Chess Book Study" is a unique fusion of an ebookreader and a board.
You can load any ebook and make the moves on a variation board in the same screen.
This helps to STUDY the chess book by making moves on the board and not just read it.

* Supports pdf, djvu & djv file format
* Multi zoom, bookmarks, goto page
* 3 board sizes
* Its Free!

Well I personally studies over 100 pages of Mikhail Tal's Life and Games during the course of its development!

(Ideal for large screen phones and tablets.)

Congrats Asim! Combining a book reader with chess playing app is a very crafty usage of a mobile device. Keep us posted on new features!

Thanks to you too Asim. It's a great idea. Since I'm going to buy a tablet this will be the first app I'll try :)

Nice to have for free so good apps :)

On my htc desire the free version's ads are going in the "books" area.
Also, I think that the book could be a little bigger.
Else than that, its a great thing !!

Tried the app. Its quite good. One thing that I want is the ability to lock view as landscape or portrait. It keeps jumping around if I read in bed for example. The pdf viewer app (EbookReader) has this capability but your version of the program does not.

I liked the program very much otherwise.

I ran this app on the kindle fire. It might be possible that this is an issue on the fire because the portrait/landscape lock is likely not enforced when using google market on the kindle fire. Google market is not officially supported on the fire. However, putting in that control from the parent app will solve the problem.

I am a great admirer of your Chess app; it is so different and "geekier" than the rest out there. Amazing

Thanks Ethan.
You can "long press" the board and choose "Resize Board" option.
"Pawn size" will further shrink the board and enlarge the Book.
The Book text can itself be zoomed using the "Zoom" option from the menu.
