Mate in 1779 moves

Post by ivoryknight »

Here's a new one. I'm experienced enough to know engines sometimes momentarily "go awry" but then quickly bounce back to regular thinking. Here is a fun example of this: http://goo.gl/OlH6F After a few seconds, it realized that mate was just 70 moves away.

(I mean no disrespect to the engine or its author here. Almost all engines do this sort of crazy thing at some point if you watch them long enough.)

Have a good day!

Is that Mate in #17xx reported from Komodo, or the GUI trying to interpret the score?

[D]R7/P3r1k1/8/1N6/8/8/5K2/8 b - - 0 1

It's mate-in-14 for White after Black's move.

Shoot. At first I thought someone must have generated an 8-man tablebase!
