Draw seeking engine?

Draw seeking engine?
Has anyone tried to make an engine choose moves that lead to draws? The idea is to see if it is possible for a weak engine to improve its elo.

I asked this a long time ago in this forum but did not get much attentin to it. My thought was that it may be easier to steer one to a draw then it is to win a game. In fact if someone tries to avoid this kind of playing it actually may be more deadly then accepting a draw IMHO. However I had asked peole in this forum if they thought it would not require a major overhaul of their engine to accomplish this but I did not get much feedback. So let me ask again. Are their any authors out here that think they could modify their engine to play favoring draws and not win. But if the win becomes gigantic then and only then go for the kill.
