Who knows what is the real strength of Cryptic and Thinker comparing to current top chess engines?
http://wbec-ridderkerk.nl/html/BayesianElo_ed18.htm
As you can see in the above link, last year Thinker 5.5 was very strong and also very close to Rybka! Since then I think there have been made considerable improvements so that Thinker could compete in any time against the top engines. I really hope we will see it commercial in the next future! It has an unique dynamic play which would make it a great tool for training if the analysing lines will finally be displayed! I really don't know too much about Cryptic. From what I heard is very strong, but always stays in the shadow. Is it possible to be released public and to compete in tournaments along side with the top chess engines? After all, what's the purpose of developing it constantly if no one has access to it, not even those who test the engines, making thus possible to see their strength on the chess rating lists? Regards!

All I know about Cryptic is that it's written by Abdul Mateen Khan, who did programming on the Hydra project. Shark is another engine by him. I think Cryptic plays on the PlayChess server.

Hi, thanks for the information! Can you provide a link to see Thinker's latest games? Or a PGN file would be awesome

You have to be an ICC member to download games. But there are a few hundred Thinker games in my big game collection:

The latest version is 5.56A and is +1 =6 -0 against Critter on ICC (TwistedLogicCCT is apparently currently running Critter instead of Hannibal).

Re: PRIVATE ENGINES
It seems Thinker is in TOP 3 engine list, if is that strong! Putting it on the market would be a success IMHO
