You guys actually went through the effort of procuring a copy? :)

I shouldn't talk. I Googled the team members' names, and lo and behold one of them had a Plenty Of Fish profile. Maybe she needs someone to talk to, now that the project has been outed as a hoax.... as if there was any doubt about that.

Houdini source code has never been released, as far as I know.

Matrix 3000 Chess Engine
Software

Basic Information
Founded
2011

About
Programmer: Mark Lee Meara. Chief Advertiser: Katie Hamad. Graphic Artist: Anna Skittlesquid.

Description
A chess engine is a computer program which can play the game of chess. Matrix 3000 is an exciting new chess engine, capable of defeating the strongest free engine, Houdini 1.5a, and well on it's way to chess domination! It's aggressive style is reminiscent of great human players such as Kasparov, Fischer, and Carlsen. Current rating lists place the commercial Houdini 2 at the top of the rating lists, with a rating between 3022 and 3308 Elo, depending on the source. Current private engine tests (c. 500 games, more to come) suggest Matrix 3000 is around 50 elo stronger than Houdini 1.5a, and 35 elo stronger than Houdini 2.0
the link doesn't work

True. A hex edited Houdini 1.5a
So you told or believed nonsense you wrote before?
omprakash:
And you are dead right. Its a modified Houdini 1.5a. But Mark has changed lots of things in the executable. According to him he was inspired from Houdini and put Ideas of himself in it. Now it has a different eval function and plays more aggressively than Original houdini. Currently I am beta testing it.

No Nonsense. The 2nd one is what he said me in the morning and the first one is what i found out after i got the copy from him.
I did a better job in modding H1.5a myself with matthias's nice program.

surely not a clone
Seems more than likely that they used the tool you created to tune Houdini's parameters and make it stronger, based on what "Om" has posted. That would seem much more plausible than having reverse engineered it.
Yes, I am involved.

@Om: please, use http://www.chessgui.com/chess/HoudiConfig.zip to give us the eval parameters of the clone.

Matthias.

Thanks Matthias for that nice program. Just look this

The question remains why people want to believe everything out of the blue only to get the hands on *another* chess program?
There are so much better things to do in life than to run behind fake chess programs and being a sycophant of fake people...

So has anything of note been changed at all?
Nope its not even a "decent" clone, more like a hoax. As noted in my previous post :

I did a binary compare and I only see a few changes like program name and some UCI options (Hash , Probe Depth). It still lists Robert Houdart as the author

The facebook page has also just disappeared.

That makes sense now

Oh well it was a short diversion for a while :D
