Thanks Ed for ProDeo 1.7 Any chance you will let Aart Bik port ProDeo as a android version?

ProDeo mainly is written in assembler, if Aart can deal with that he has my blessing.

I see download links for 1.71 and 1.71a personalities. They both have the same date (today).

Pro Deo 1.71 (November 2, 2011)
Pro Deo 1.71a (November 2, 2011)

Are the 1.71a versions the latest (best) versions?

I hope that this effort of yours to tune up Pro Deo 1.6 is just the beginning of a reborn interest in chess programming and that, after a while, you will come back in strength with new engines so innovative as your rebel was in the 90's, including the GUI you used then, which I still prefer to any other.

In the meantime, thanks
Fern

I assume, only x86 assembly? Alas, most, although not all, Android devices are based on ARMv5TE. So although a 32-bit x86 Linux binary would import well in Chess for Android on the x86-based devices, porting to mainstream ARMv5TE-based Android devices would be more elaborate (depending, of course, on exactly how much code is written in assembly; just a few basic bit-manipulating routines, or the complete program?).

The rule of this ProDeo tuning game is that ProDeo.eng is the best engine so far. ProDeo2.eng and ProDeo3.eng are based on the main ProDeo.eng with promising (yet unconfirmed) changes.

Hi Ed,

at first:
Sorry for my message to your new version.

1. I downloaded Pers. 1.71a
2. I copy the two files in personal directory of version 1.7
3. I changed the *.eng file from the WB2uci adapter.
4. I deleted the Prodeo 1.7 games and restarted with ProDeo 1.7 Pers. 1.71a

Can be see in my LIVE tourney table:
http://www.amateurschach.de/ftptrigger/ ... ix-1a.html

Here the *.eng file from the WB2uci adapter:

Code: Select all

[ENGINE]
Name           = ProDeo 1.7 w32
Author         = Ed Schröder
Filename       = rebeluci.exe

[OPTIONS]
Program        = prodeo.exe w5 ProDeo2.eng
InitString     = BookOff/n
LevelExtend    = none
Analyze        = false
UseUndo        = false
Logfile        = false
LevelType      = 2
SimulateHint   = true
TerminateHard  = true
Protocol       = 1
Visible        = Ponder,Logfile,Extras

[EXTRAS]
Personality    = setvar personality personal\%s.eng|combo|ProDeo|ProDeo|Strong Club Player|Average Club Player|Absolute Novice Player|Q3 - Tactical Engine
Anti-GM        = setvar antigm|combo|off|off|active|strong|smart
Playing Style  = setvar playstyle|combo|normal|aggressive|active|normal|solid|defensive
Strength       = setvar playstrength|combo|strong|novice|club player|strong
Opening Book = setvar bookfile books\%s.bin|combo|prodeo|prodeo
EOC database = setvar eocfile eoc\%s.eoc|combo|prodeo|prodeo
EOC Usuage     = setvar eocuse|combo|none|none|moderate|strong|book
I hope this one ...
Program = prodeo.exe w5 ProDeo2.eng
is correct?

Thanks Ed!

Best
