Re: The Power Chess Project...a new direction
I have to say I didn't understand why "Let's Check" killed your project. Apologies if you have explained it better somewhere, I may have missed it.
As I understood it, the point of Power Chess was to let people watch games played by engines with a long time control. I don't see how Let's Check serves any similar purpose...

The point of the project wasn't to have people watch games; it was to create databases of high-quality chess, which Fritz 13 has taken the lead on. The viewable games were just a bonus.
You can still watch the ''games''. They're just *really* long.

Re: The Power Chess Project...a new direction
I thought for a while if to buy Fritz 13 (because of Let's check) or not. It seemed inconvenient to me to pay for providing Chessbase with my analysis. I got the impression they'll build the best book ever with the help of customers, but that book could become their private one sooner or later.
Well, just impressions. Anyway, I didn't buy it.
I find your project very interesting. A pity, life is so short... 1 hour per move is really impressive. Wasn't there any other way to proceed? E.g., by using the Houdini persistent hash when playing 100 fast games, and keeping them for producing some games at 1 min/move? I guess those games would be high quality ones... Just my two cents.

It will take a long time to get a decent amount of positions analysed, but if you keep critical it can be a useful tool.
Besides, it holds a couple of undeniable advantages over Let's Check:
- It wont be plagued with Fritz 13 and Fritz 12 analysis.
- Much better bang for your dollar.

Sure. Right now I'm going with my favorite defense vs. 1.e4 The French.
