Yes, it uses both cores on the iPhone 4S, that is really like a mini iPad 2Cubeman wrote:I have the ipod touch 4 and the latest version of Stockfish peaks at about 86 kn/s, is the 221 kn/s result from just one core, because I think Stockfish does not yet use 2 cores for iphone versions.I know that the ipad version can use 2 cores on the ipad 2.
There is no iPad version of Stockfish. There is only a single iOS version, which works on all devices. It will use both cores if your device has a dual-core CPU.Cubeman wrote:I have the ipod touch 4 and the latest version of Stockfish peaks at about 86 kn/s, is the 221 kn/s result from just one core, because I think Stockfish does not yet use 2 cores for iphone versions.I know that the ipad version can use 2 cores on the ipad 2.
Thanks for the clarification, I suppose that Stockfish is the only chess app that can do dual core at the moment.Lets hope that some of the commercial apps follow suit.Tord Romstad wrote:There is no iPad version of Stockfish. I agree, there's a two years cycle. Mostly because of carriers contracts.S.Taylor wrote:Wael, don't you think that the choice is between iphone 4s and iphone 5s, rather than between iphone 4s and iphone 5?
Isn't the first year of a new number, for people who want the newest gadgets, and the second year, with s at the end, for people who prefer stability?
Yes, and I find it extraordinary that some developers will require you to buy the same program you bought for the Iphone to use on the Ipad ... just to get the native resolution of the Ipad. Surely that must be trivial to do! Imagine that if you bought a PC program, you would have to buy a new one every time you changed your monitor size !!!Tord Romstad wrote:There is no iPad version of Stockfish.
