I am from Alabama so will be contacting Bob Hyatt-thanks for that.
Hi Houston,
Just an FYI - I contacted Bob last week and asked him if he would consult on the movie. He agreed, and I put him in touch with one of the lead actors (who also happens to be a computer science professor). Bob's bringing him up to speed on computer chess circa 1980.
Best of luck to you, Andrew and the rest of the folks working on this movie. I'm really looking forward to seeing it!
If you haven't already i recommend giving David Levy book How Computers Play Chess a look. Talks about the pioneers of computer chess, the famous computer chess challenges, and Deep Thought (Deep Blue's father). http://www.amazon.com/Computers-Play-Ch ... ap_title_1
@Steve
I remember, a few years ago, stumbling open pictures of your secret safe (or was it a safety room) filled with chess computers from ground to ceiling: a true nerdvana Houston's camera surely would love to get a glimpse of if you allow
@Houston

So, do you live in a shack in the backyard to make room for that magnificent collection?
You ought to know that, in future disputes, I will have to side with Mr. Villegas. After all, it is hard to see how a man with all of your riches (of the dedicated computer variety) could be bothered by a crumb or two falling Fern's way.

The ACCA (compchess.org) holds its annual Pan American Computer Chess Championship in Oct - Nov. It is held online, but some years we also get together. We have been discussing having another face-to-face event this year and holding it at UA Birmingham. If that interests you. With notice, we might be able to pull in the date a bit.
