If you are interested in a very spectacular chess engine

Post by Sylwy »

:lol: Hi again ! :lol:

Are you interested in a very-very-very active and spectacular sparring partner in chess ? An amazing engine !
Are you an A class-->Expert (USCF) chess player ?
You are my man! :lol:
Here is the best chess engine I ever seen for an extreme tactical training for not very experienced chess players: Mint 2.3 of Mr. Christian Söderström /Sweden:

Hi,

I tried it. It crashes under arena after a game (2 out of 2 times), so seems to still have some issues.

Hi Thomas !

It's an aReNa :lol: issue ! Miky needs to hardly work to this GUI !
Mint 2.3 runs fine under Winboard. Any crash in hundreds of games ! Try
please !

You can use also this engine under Fritz GUI like UCI engine.You need in the installation folder:
1.-the content of above archive ( .exe . .ini ,large book files):
2.-Wb2Uci.eng file ( make a .txt file ; copy/paste the following text:

[ENGINE]
Name=Mint 2.3
Author=Christian Söderström, Sweden
Filename=Wb2Uci.exe

[OPTIONS]
Program=mint.exe

Save like .eng file;

3.-Wb2Uci.exe from this adress:
http://home.online.no/~malin/sjakk/down ... .3_B21.zip

4.Under Fritz GUI go to Engine (menu)/Create engine UCI/select Wb2Uci.exe like UCI engine;

4.If you want a logo also-go toWBEC Ridderkerk page -engine details-save the Mint logo like .bmp file and rename it Wb2Uci.

Now all works OK under Fritzy GUI>

belive me-Mint 2.3 is a very stable , good and spectacular chess engine !

Regards,

A little caveat: Don't use Mint with pondering. here it has a severe never fixed bug, which makes it a few hundreds points weaker.

I just today decided to try installing Mint into Arena. It was also crashing for me every time I tried loading it into Arena.

I discovered that if I specified a Mint book in the mint.ini file, it would work in Arena. If I also specified an Arena mainbook in the GUI, Mint would also use that, but it was mandatory that mint.ini specify a Mint book.

Odd, I've never had a problem with Mint in Arena. I do know that it didn't work for me in Chessmaster 9000, since Mint doesn't do WB1, and CM9000 doesn't do WB2.

If you have any of the older Mint versions, it would be much appreciated if you could share them. :)

Very good show, a few slaps have been ineffectively fired off and insults tossed.

Please desist immediately from the Romanian v German v any other nationality name-calling.

Later.
