Thanks for your efforts and for many hours of computer chess entertainment!

Assuming your agreement in advance, I have installed an alternative PGN download for the Season 3/Stage 1 games. By that, the last completed stage with the 7 rounds swiss may be available a little longer, even in case the TCEC page goes offline.

http://remixshare.com/dl/ln0og/TCEC-S3St1-PGN.zip

(The PGN was "processed" through Fritz, and zipped from ~2 MB to ~0.5 MB.)

Among other things, I thought that tournament was remarkable for the "overperformance" of Shredder and to some extent, of Junior too. I would have liked to see one of them (or even both?!) in the 3rd Elite Match, even if the statistical probabilities for it may be small. I think it is possible that these old commercial engines have a certain quality which makes them benefit from such high-level conditions as yours at TCEC, while some terrible lack of knowledge other strong engines have (...shown), strike in 90+30 just as in 3+0.

TCEC has taken up most of my spare time but now other things are

I want to thank everyone involved, most notably Paolo Casachi of pgn4web

As this is a sudden but necessary change of path for me, I will close down
TCEC today which means stage 2a will not be finished nor will season 3.

Thank you to everyone following and I hope you all had a great time.

Hope that all is okay Martin. Some things are much more important than hobbies. Thanks for your efforts both with CCRL and with your TCEC project.

Cheers,

Martin, that is sad news, the TCEC site was simply awesome for following computer chess games.
Hope everything will work out for you, TCEC will be missed!

Martin,

It is sad that your project must come to an end. Many followed the TCEC with great interest and your contribution to CCC is much appreciated. I hope that your new path in life is without much turmoil and that you are never away from us for long.

This seems out of the blue with all the recent improvements that have been made. TCEC was great! This sudden change seems ominous. I hope you are OK and good luck!

Really a shock: TCEC was my home page :( But one good thing: we saved from embarrassing Critter fall from stage 3 :)

Thanks for reviving Rybka!

I suppose this move was only expected to strike in such a way at any time.

These games can go down in history!

And another thought, it reminds me a little of Deep Blue 1997, where the mainframe computer program was dismantled after its last match vs Kasparov.

Thanks and good luck!
